As a first year student in the Film and Media Studies Department at UC Santa Barbara, Hannah is still in the process of broadening (and then narrowing) her research interests. She studied German literature as an undergraduate at Carleton College, but moved on to study history at the Institute for Eastern European History at the University of Vienna, during a Fulbright year in Austria. Since landing in film and media, she has pursued diverse research on such topics as issues of nationalism and race in Austrian media, and the multiple geographic meanings of Hubble Space Telescope images. She hopes to use this class to bring together her interests in literature and the digital media.
